What makes you different than other Roanoke wedding cake bakeries?
Barrister's Bakery strives to be your one-stop-shop for all things wedding cake. Included in your order are all of the things you need to complete your wedding cake experience, namely: a frozen, fully prepped, vacuum sealed anniversary tier; a personalized cake topper; personalized cake knife and server set; engraved cake flavor cards; free use of a cake stand from our wide array of stands; clear and precise cutting guides for your caterer; and complete attention to detail that is unmatched in the Roanoke Valley.
Barrister's Bakery takes a very limited number of cakes per year because YOUR cake is the most important piece of art we are creating and we want to give your cake 200% attention, the attention it deserves. We work closely with you to make sure each show-stopping cake is unique and reflects you and your fiance's personality and sense of style. We create custom centerpiece cakes for weddings ONLY. That means that we deal exclusively with weddings day in and day out, which is a specialty that no other bakery in town can match.

How much do your cakes cost?

Do you have a minimum order?
There is a $750 minimum order and that order must include at least a three tiered cake. The smallest tiered cake size available is a 4”/6”/8” cake that serves 44 guests. Additional servings can either be achieved by larger tiers, kitchen cutting cakes, cake cups or cupcakes. Cupcakes and cake cups aren’t sold without an accompanying cake order.
Your cakes look good, but do they taste good, too?
So glad you asked! YES! Our cakes are made using only high quality ingredients including real butter, milk, flour, sugar, eggs and fresh fruit. Also, no frozen cakes here! This is a scratch made, custom bakery, not a big box store frozen cake shop! So, yes they do taste as good as they look: AMAZING!
Do you sell sheet cakes, ready-made cakes or "basic"/simple cakes?
No, Barrister’s Bakery does not offer sheet cakes as an option. As a custom wedding cake bakery, pleasing both you and your guests with incredible cake is our number one goal. A sheet cake is not, in our opinion, worthy of your once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Save sheet cakes for birthdays. Serve your guests something that is both a feast for their eyes and their stomachs.
Do you offer a kitchen cutting cake?
Yes! We do offer a kitchen cutting cake as an option. It is three layers of cake with two layers of filling, and is made to match exactly with your tiered cake when cut. Your wedding guests will not notice any difference in appearance or taste between the tiered cake and the kitchen cake once they are cut and served. A kitchen cutting cake can be used to supplement cake servings while still allowing you to have a show stopping cake for your reception. Cutting cakes offer a cost savings over a tiered cake due to less decorating and stacking time.
Do you make gluten-free or dietary cakes?
No, Barrister's Bakery does not make gluten-free, sugar free or vegan cakes. For those guets with gluten allergies, we recommend getting a dozen cupcakes from Corbin's Confections to supplement your mind-blowing Barrister's Bakery wedding cake. We have not yet found a sugar free cake that meets our standards, and are not set up to provide vegan cakes.
Do you deliver?
Yes, we do! Complete Couture Wedding Cakes must be delivered. You are investing in this edible piece of art - trust me when I say you do not want a disaster by having a friend deliver a 45 pound stacked cake. Price of delivery is based on location within the Roanoke Valley or surrounding area. You can CONTACT US with details about your unforgettable wedding day and we can provide a quote for delivery costs with the cake quote.
Do you ship your cakes?
Unfortunately, we do NOT ship cakes. Being a custom boutique wedding cake bakery, we only make cakes for the surrounding areas of the Roanoke Valley and Southwest Virginia.
How much are cake tastings and what do they entail?
Barrister's Bakery charges $30 per couple. It is recommended that you bring in any pictures, invitations, etc., that may help us come up with something perfect for your incredible wedding day. Tastings have six cake flavors and 13 buttercream/fruit filling flavors for you to mix and match together. Tastings are by appointment only, so contact us to chat about your event and check availability today!
How long will it take for you to get back to me?
We will review your submission and strive to return messages within 48 hours.
Do you have a retail store where I can walk in and purchase cupcakes or view your work?
No, Barrister's Bakery is a home based business that is by appointment only. However, if it’s pictures you want to see, we have some of our work featured online HERE! You can also follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see some of our most recent work!
How early should I place my order?
As a custom wedding cake bakery, we take limited wedding cakes each month to ensure that your wedding cake gets 100% of the attention that it deserves. Consquently, we book up around 8 months out. The sooner you contact Barrister's Bakery for a tasting and consultation, the better chance you have of availability for your wedding date.

Is a deposit required to place an order?
Yes. A non-refundable 50% retainer is required to book your order. The balance must be paid within 30 days of the celebration.
Why is the retainer non-refundable?
Since we book out approximately 8-10 months ahead, there would be no way for us to go back and get all of the customers we said no to once we accepted your deposit to backfill your spot if you decide to cancel your order. Your retainer ensures availability FOR YOU and we manage our entire production schedule based on your order once you book it.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all credit cards, personal checks and cash. For your protection, we do NOT process credit card orders over the phone. However, for your convenience, we can email you an invoice for you to pay online.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
A non-refundable retainer of 50% is due upon order placement. Balance is due in full one month prior to your event. If a cancellation is made once final payment has been made (less than 30 days out from your event), no refunds will be made. Please understand that when you book an order, we decline other orders.
